Under the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, this office was established in 1994 under the name of Upazila Project Officer's Office at the upazila level to introduce the main national student stipend program to increase the rate of female education in the country. Later in 2005 the government changed the name of the office to Upazila Secondary Education Office. The department is working in the field of secondary education at the upazila level to implement the vision 2021 of the present government by creating an educated, skilled human resource rich nation to increase the rate and quality of education.
